Ideas Need Execution: Turn Your Plans into Finished Projects

Why a good idea still needs execution

Don't get me wrong, having a good idea is the first step to creating something successful, but if you don't carry it out, it has no practical value.

Let me explain in a simple way; imagine that you have a brilliant idea for a mobile application that would solve a common problem. If you don't take steps to develop, promote and market it, that idea is still just that: an idea.

Ideas come and go, you can have a brilliant idea and everyone will tell you that it is great, but if you do nothing with it, it will not generate any impact or benefit, in addition, that they will not always have the impact you expect (you have to consider many factors such as product market fit, competition, marketing, among other aspects that are best left for another post).

Execution is the key

Execution involves taking concrete steps to turn your idea into reality. This may include:

  • Planning: Define the necessary steps to carry out your idea.

  • Development: Create the product or service based on your idea.

  • Marketing: Promote your idea to attract users or customers.

  • Feedback: Collect opinions and improve your idea based on real experience.

Execution is what transforms an idea into something tangible and valuable. Without execution, even the best idea in the world has no practical value.

And it is difficult, I know, many times we face the fear of failure, procrastination or lack of resources, but overcoming these obstacles is essential to turn our ideas into reality.

Procrastinating vs Working

Procrastinating is the act of delaying or postponing tasks or actions, often opting for more enjoyable or less challenging activities instead of addressing what we really need to do. It is a form of evasion that can lead to feelings of guilt, stress and a decrease in productivity.

Working, on the other hand, implies taking active measures towards achieving our objectives. This means facing the challenges head on, managing our time effectively and staying focused on our priorities. Although working can be difficult and sometimes uncomfortable, it is the only way to advance and make our ideas come true.

People waste a lot of time postponing their ideas by watching social networks, series, videos, etc. and at the end of the day they fail to advance in anything significant. This is not something that is out of our knowledge, I myself when checking the time I spend on social networks on the phone I realize that it is much more than it should.

The key is to find a healthy balance between work and rest, and to develop habits that allow us to be productive and effective in executing our ideas.

Of course, the more insane our approach to work becomes, the more likely we are to achieve higher incomes, but in the long run this can affect our mental and physical health, so we always have to find a balance ( unless you are willing to sacrifice your health for money, which I do not recommend).

Failure as part of Learning

I myself have failed many times trying to execute my ideas, but I don't give up so easily. Each failure is an opportunity to learn and improve. By analyzing what went wrong, I can adjust my approach and increase my chances of success in the future.

Constant execution, even in the face of failure, is what ultimately leads to success. So don't be afraid to take action and execute your ideas, because at the end of the day, it is the only way to turn them into reality.

It is important NOT TO FORGET that success is merely playing with statistics, if you throw 100 ideas, 1 or 2 are likely to succeed, but if you don't throw any, success is impossible.

Memento Mori: " Remember you are going to die"

This philosophical concept reminds us of the inevitability of death and the importance of living a meaningful life. By remembering that our time is limited, we can find the motivation to act and execute our ideas rather than postpone them indefinitely.

Living with the awareness of our mortality drives us to make the most of each moment and pursue our passions with determination. So remember, time is a finite resource, and the best way to honor our existence is by executing our ideas and leaving a significant footprint on the world.

Frequently asked questions

Why is it said that ideas are worthless without execution? Because an idea without action is just a thought. Real value is created by building, launching and learning from the result. Execution is what differentiates those who dream from those who achieve.

How do I stop procrastinating and start executing? Start small and today. Motivation comes after acting, not before. A lot of this is a matter of mentality: I develop it in The importance of the growth mindset.
